Fortunately, dealing with it these days is a relatively straightforward process. It's no longer necessary to attend multiple appointments, or fumble with oil for days or even weeks before the wax can be removed.
Microsuction is the modern, civilized way of dealing with excess ear wax, and the results are instant. An illuminated microscope allows a qualified clinician to see in your ear canal while removing the blockage quickly, safely and comfortably.
In most cases, the procedure lasts around ten minutes and doesn't require any softening drops beforehand. We can usually schedule an appointment within a couple of days of an initial enquiry at our clinics in Glasgow city centre and East Kilbride. Same-day appointments are very often available, so it's always worth asking. We're also happy to arrange home visits for patients who are housebound.

We routinely use video otoscopy, allowing you to see the results for yourself.
*In cases where removal is unnecessary or otherwise inappropriate, a £20 consultation fee applies. Calder Hearingcare hearing aid clients benefit from a 25% discount on standard fees.
